An Ode to Coffee Published 18th of August 2024
This article begins with my frustration towards doing research and what feels like a neverending informations to be searched. and also how uncomfortable it is to type on keyboards with japanese layout. which is kind of given since this tablet is dynabook branded, despite having toshiba all over the place. but that's beside the scope of this article. let's begin with what i want to write initially.
it took a lot of mental headspace!!!, but that seems to be quite obvious especially if you are trying to cover something that is quite obscure, like trying to understand why a certain japanese typewriter brand only existed about four years before being acquired by a major eletronic manufacturer company. it took me a few days to actually wrote the story about Dynabook brand in japan and how toshiba brands was going all over the world.
as you noticed, this article may be publised before or after another article called An Overview of Dynabook, has published. and it is of course were about the history of Dynabook brand which is quite peculiar list even in japanese wikipedia. as in how the brand acquires and remains, and being sold again to another japanese conglomerate. but this means it took me a lot of time spending and reading about the history of toshiba in computer market.
of course toshiba is not new in computer market at all, we all knows its satellites, portégé-s, and librettos, some may even know about its qosmios . but Dynabook is a brand that seems to not meant to be sent abroad and want to remain to be within the japanese market, well, it no longer is once all the stocks are bought by sharp. and in various ways, the dynabook brand that just started to be sold in the western world, or at least on its accessories store website, seems to be in disrepair. not good at all...
Because i'm having coffee as i wrote this, at first planned to enjoy such time while standing ouside, but if you know anything about equatorial weather.... yeah... its warm even in the middle of the night as i write this (23:27, 17.08.24). i went back inside and enjoy them under air conditioned room.
I'm actually really tempted to go to nearby 24-hour cafe, but i refuse to spend any money on coffee after i spend enough on 2kg of sugar and some other necessities especially for that time of the month, things are getting expensive nowadays T--T
But aside from that, i've been quite a coffee enjoyer since my early years in middle school. it's just such a stimulant that keeps you going and continue to create and such. although i am quite frankly a bit more careful about such, as i grew older. and despite not having body of a vampire or wolf anymore, despite my appearances. i still find having too much coffee messes me up in various ways. especially if its made by coffee shops whose uses stronger coffee concentration to offset the richness of milk and sugar they used. unlike the usual coffee that i made at home.
i'm not really a coffee connosieur, if anything my taste on coffee is quite proletariat, usually pre-ground and store-bought made by a major coffee manufacturer. brewed with the most traditional method of putting the grounds on just-boiled sugar water and let it steep for a few minutes. mixed with milk on serving if i had any.
but if there is any gripes i had with coffee world, its sometimes a lot of pretentiousness surrounding it. like, i may not get it because i never been into barista competition or following them. but from afar there is some part of it where its clearly not just about coffee, but everything else around it, many of which are just a show.
Yup, its not just coffee, its also Sommelier show for wine, and a lot more. if you had a fine dining experience, well it is an experience, and even something like a class session, is technically a show. it really depends on your teacher how to present their material in interesting way, how they develop an interaction of learning and helps you gain understanding of their material
this reminds me of one of my high school german teacher, whose had this idea to recreate the frienship-breaker table-top game, yes you guessed it, its UNO. Except that its german class, so they called it Eins and instead of just throwing cards, we are required to make gramatically correct german phrase till we got one card left. i forgot the rest of the concept but that's one of few ways a teacher can hold a show.
i refuse to say the obvious though, because of course live streaming is a show. although one may not consider, live streaming a game, is a show within a show. any games is also a show, as it tells you something in an interactive medium. depends on how you package the game interactions. and how you serve the story, hence game making is often called Immersive Storytelling.
as per i wrote this post (18.08.24), i'm actually going out and about as a change from the usual staying-at-home amelia and found myself in a place where a quiet and quaint place has existed for sometime. whilst i wish to promote them i also don't want to in fear of making the place rowdy, i just want to have a place to go to write and decompress after all.
the fact that i originally plan to write a different article about my trip to Library of Jakarta at Taman Izmail Marzuki, which is a lovely place but i came too late in the afternoon to get any seat, and the wifi seems to be regulated so much my librewolf failed to access it far too many times. that i didn't spend more than half an hour there. i opened maps and seen what seem to be quite quaint coffee shop just a few walks away from the library and decided to have a visit.
i think this place will be the place where i will spend my weekend pretty soon. a small quaint and quiet place. a good place to concentrate and write. my thoughts and process my feelings from the week earlier. i hope it will have enough profit during the evenings that its enough upkeep to stay quiet and lovely during weekends of daytime >~<
I think this post is long enough as it is for a filler post, mostly about the days when i write and the thoughs of it, so i hope the next post will be more structured and coherent instead of this adhd-coded infodump.
so, thank you for reading, and i will see you again one day.
Mit Liebe, auf Jakarta

PS : Yeah, the title doesn't really match with most of the content, but hey, coffee!
